Most people of a certain community and money put together just dont seem right!
its probably a really dark alley in a persons mind .
what would it take to run inside and bring some light?
Generalizations can be dangerous . If one expands the idea to cover a large canvas . Our current political state and a lot of recent episodes can be broken down to our habit of generalizing . We generalize a community, a religion , a gender , habits and even accents .
Why are we so prorgrammed to follow opinions judgements and preconceived notions from the folks around us as if these were precious family heirlooms ?
Either half of the worlds population lacks an individual thought process or we as people are just not bothered to accept how big the implications of such generalizations can be?
Maybe it's due to this reality that we award people (mostly posthameously ) for " ground breaking" " DIFFERENT" work .
Why can't INDIVIDUALITY" become a way of living ?

ans: the answer lies in the question itself. we are programmed because we have inherrited such qualities as heirloom inthemselves. we tend to generalize based on our own individual perceptions as well. therefore it would be inaccurate to assume that we generalize in general based on others opinions or views. it might just happen that most people tend to agree with each others generalizations but that might be either because of a similar upbringing or just purely coincidental.
2.Why can't INDIVIDUALITY" become a way of living ?
ans: individuality has its inherrent flaws as well. if all of us began thinking individually it would be chaotic and, as i perceive it, rather uneccasary. why on earth should i have an opinion on say space travel? it doesnt concern me much and hence i tend to go with others perception that it is way too expensive for me to try right now. it is absurd to assume that we live by generalizations. we dont. we all have our own opinions. it is just that in some instances they might be on an issue that isnt terribly relevant and hence we as individuals might allow our opinion to be over riden by what others as think of it.
now to deal with GENERALIZATION as a concept. a generalization according to me is simply a majority's opinion on a subject. if we agree with it we can be considered to be generalizing whereas if we disagree it could be seen as being rebellious. it is thus a fine line to walk on, something that my fat feet arent very adept at doing!!
